Navigating a new country's healthcare system can be challenging, especially when you're still getting the hang of a new language and culture. For expats in Cuenca, understanding how to access public healthcare services is essential. The good news is that Ecuador's public health system offers several convenient ways to schedule a medical appointment. Here's a comprehensive guide, with all the details you'll need.
How to Book an Appointment
There are three main ways to schedule an appointment with the public health system in Cuenca: through phone, online channels, or in person. For all methods, it is highly recommended to have your Ecuadorian ID number (cédula) handy. Even if you don't have one, you can still receive service, but you must have a physical identification document with you for data validation.
