The U.S. Consulate General in Guayaquil is bringing its services directly to you, saving you a long trip to Guayaquil or Quito. This is a fantastic opportunity to take care of essential documents like passports and notarial services right here in the city.

Mark your calendars, because representatives from the Consulate will be providing services for American citizens in Cuenca at the end of August.

  • Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM

  • Friday, August 29, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Where: These services will be held at the Abraham Lincoln Center. The Center has been a key part of Cuenca's cultural landscape since 1957, founded by local university students eager to learn English. It has been a bridge between U.S. and Ecuadorian culture for decades, and its current location is at:

Services Offered:

  • Notarial Services: For various legal documents.

  • Passport Services: For new applications or renewals.

  • CRBA Services: Consular Report of Birth Abroad.

Important: How to Prepare for Your Appointment

To ensure your visit is smooth and successful, please be aware that appointments are required and must be booked in advance.

Appointments: You must book your appointment using this specific link: https://outlook.office365.com/book/CuencaServicesAug2829AbrahamLincolnCenter@state.gov

Forms and Documents: You must arrive with your applications correctly filled out. Please bring both the original documents and one photocopy of each. For example, for children under 16, you will need age progression photos. You can find the necessary forms and detailed instructions on the official U.S. Embassy website: https://ec.usembassy.gov/passports/

Payments: This is the most crucial part of the process. Payments must be made in the following specific ways:

  • For DS-11 and DS-82 forms (passports): You must pay in advance using the U.S. government's secure payment site (Pay.gov).

  • For Notarial Services: Payments can only be made with a cashier's check (in Spanish, "CHEQUE DE GERENCIA" or "CHEQUE DE EMERGENCIA") from any Ecuadorian bank where you have an account. The check must be made out to U.S. Disbursing Officer.

    • The fee is $50.00 per consul’s signature. Be aware that some documents may require multiple signatures.

    • If your bank requires the Embassy's RUC, it is 1791845986001.
